Here we go again!  After reading alot about a "SIMPLE BOLT IN FRONT SUSPENSION" yah Right!!  I figured I would give it a try sense I already had all the parts needed to do it!  Go figure.  The article said that a mid 70's to 80's front suspension would bolt on to a 48-54 frame with 1/2 inch spacers on each side.  I  have a 77 front suspension and 51 frame.  Both with in the rules.  The 51 frame was just a parts frame and cab I got in a packaged deal.  The 77 was a truck I bought for the tranny.  So I figured I had nothing to lose, because the 46 frame as stated before is long gone.  I was told that the 51 & 46 frames are close to the same.. That is a fact THEY ARE BOTH CHEVYS!!  Other than that and they are both made of steel.   Having no reference point to start with I felt the place to start would be the fan to radiator clearance.  That has bothered me on this truck with most of the transplants, so this time that is were the reference point starts.  After pages and pages of measurements and trips back and forth to town to a friends 41 truck frame for pictures and nights of dreaming how easy this would be I started on this,  The finial transplant!  I will add to this page later

51 looks 46 see the bolt holes No! cant use anyway
51 frame

wider is better, Right?
77 front suspension

Note to self! This front supension look like more than 1/2 inch on both side!

Note to self!!  Read notes to self it is more.

Well the 1/2 inch spacers I made won't work, it is more like 7/8 inch on both sides!!  Don't sound like much difference?  Try to take a 1/2" nut off with a 7/8" wrench  or 7/8" nut with 1/2" wrench!!!  Well go to plan "B"  I'll let you know what it is.  If I figure out what plan "B" is.
